Not fancy but really good food. Catfish, oysters and a hamburger, my family had. Busy even though it wasn't the lunch rush hour.

My wife and I ate here for the first time Friday for lunch. She ordered a #13 (1 catfish, 4 pieces of shrimp, fries and 2 hush puppies) and I ordered a #14 ( like a #13, but with 2 pieces of catfish). The catfish pieces are very big and the shrimp are large. I liked the catfish, but didn't think the shrimp tasted great, just good. The hush puppies are okay and the fries are good. The portion sizes are definitely generous - you won't leave hungry. I think it's a bit over priced because we payed just under $28 for our meals (we had two sodas too). The positive side is that you needn't tip anyone, since you stand in line to order and pour your own drinks, get your side sauces, etc... The negative is you'll smell like grease when you leave. I'm not kidding... Your clothes, hair, and skin will have that fried food greasy smell all day. There are other restaurants in Hot Springs that have the same food for less money...

Catfish is excellent. Other items we have tried were also very good. Our church used their catering service. Our members raved about the quality of the catfish and chicken -- not just the quality but also the quantity. You will not go away hungry!

The fish and shrimp is a delicious combo! The food is fresh with a relaxed atmosphere. Come hungry because plates are HUGE!!!

Fantastic for a Southern style brunch. The place is always packed with locals, from the Masons to the Sheriff Deputies to the local folk, the atmosphere is official. So are the hush puppies, and I live for this Ouchita catfish. Get some grits and some cole slaw to go with that delicately, golden fried and truly organic tray of fried bottom feeder. It's an emotional body felt healing that is taking place.

When we walked in for lunch, the haze of smoke hit us in the face, I thought my glasses had fogged up! You left reeking of fried foods, I swear they had no ventilation whatsoever. My burger was good, said no mayo, had a large helping of mayo on it when it was served to me :(. Husband said no side of slaw, he got slaw. Not major...just saying. The hush puppies were good. My Husband had the catfish, shrimp and oyster basket. He said it was good, just under seasoned.

The store front was questionable but once inside it was clean and staff were friendly and attentive. Food was really good! Would definitely return again.

I recently swapped my PDX foodie adventures to southern foodie adventures. I'm visiting folks in the hot/humid state of Arkansas. My aunt and I decided to try this restaurant after driving by it several times. The first time we attempted to go to this place, it was packed with customers. We figured the food must be delicious for people to wait in a long line. We decided we would try again another time. The next time we picked an off day/time and was pleased to see seating was available. My aunt grew up with the server...so I will definitely give her props as I don't want an old fashioned southern whooping if/when either read this review :) I ordered a cheeseburger basket and my aunt got a catfish basket. My burger was no better/worse than any other homemade burger I have tasted. The fries were tasty enough and plentiful. I'm guessing in a fish focused restaurant their strength is really in their seafood dishes. My aunt confirmed her catfish meal was on point. I will definitely need to try a seafood basket next time. I thought the meals were a bit pricey. The total cost was over $20 bucks. Some of the price was due to tax...something I'm still adjusting to coming from sales tax-free Oregon. Overall, a good eating experience. I look forward to trying Mr. Whiskers' again.

A bit skeptical to see a limited 16 reviews when visiting this location but every place starts somewhere, right? The other reviews are right, the batter is light and crunchy, the prices are VERY comfortable and the actual food is flavorful. The wait is worth it once you realize your food is being made to order. This is the first seafood joint that has successfully fulfilled my appetite for a great po boy. The shrimp are large and ready to blow your taste buds as well. Trust this and all the other POSITIVE reviews, a must visit if you're visiting the town.

My husband and I tried this place a few days ago when we were in Hot Springs. I can only rate it on the po boys and the service. The service was friendly and I would give the service four stars. The po boys, on the other and, I would only give three stars. I got the oyster one and my husband got the shrimp one. The bread they were served on was wonderful but the sandwiches overall lacked flavor. They were served dry with a little lettuce and tomato. And, though there were various sauces available to choose from, we couldn't seem to get enough on the sandwiches to give them the flavor we craved. I think if they added more spices to the breading mix, maybe that would help. Not sure.

We loved the chicken and burgers. The catfish is perfectly battered and the hush puppies are delicious. We did not like the potato salad or beans. Would recommend this to visitors. Prices are decent. However, it's not within walking distance from the center of the town.

5 stars for service. The lady in charge went out of her way to accommodate our group of seven even though they were busy. 4 stars for food. Good fried food but nothing spectacular. Good down home fried fare.

Amazing catfish, chicken to die for and a great homemade sauce to dip it all in. Would definitely recommend.

The best catfish in Hot Springs. Great flavor, golden color and cooked to perfection. My wife and mother in-law had the Bread pudding and loved it.

Damn good catfish!! The fries, slaw and hush puppies were excellent, too. We'll be in town three weeks and you can bet we'll be back at least four or five more times. We want to try the burgers and ribs. If we can keep from ordering catfish again, that is!

Great fish and chicken! Highly recommend eating at Mr Wiskers! Don't forget to get some hush puppies also.

We were craving fried catfish and read all the great reviews about this place. We ordered a small catfish plate that came with fries, hushpuppies and shrimp. While it wasn't bad, it just didn't live up to our expectations. The fish batter was rather bland and the fish wasn't flaky, it was almost slimey. Maybe we caught it on a bad day. Loved the decor and the people were friendly. We will go back and give it a second chance.

If this was the best burger in hot springs, I need to open a restaurant. Sadly disappointed. Spent $60 and food was mediocre.

My husband and I ordered the #16, it was a large platter with two pieces of fried catfish, 4 shrimp, 4 oysters. It was all great, it wasn't too fishy and had a great crunchy batter. It came with fries and coleslaw but they gave you the option to switch out sides. We opted for fried okra and chopped salad. Their house dressing was very good. It had olives and tomatoes. It had a greek flavor.

I nice spot for comfort food even though we had salads with chicken. The service and food was good. Also the salad was big enough for two people. The atmosphere and decor reflected a local flavor. Great spot to get some lunch if you want seafood or some chicken .

I'm from South Louisiana so I like to think I know good seafood. This place is great. Catfish was perfect lightly breaded so your eating fish not just breading. Good hush puppies and large shrimp. I wish I would have at least tried a rib since they seem to have their own smoke house out back. Highly recomend this place for seafood.

Shrimp big and yummy, fried in cornmeal breading. Black beans had a little kick and I'm a wimp on spice, soaked salad was a bit to vinegary. Nice people working .

great food and friendly staff...very casual walk up and order, which means you don't have to wait for a server to take your order or wait on your check to pay. Catch fish, fried oysters, shrimp and chicken strips. (they do have bottled beer too :) Really good food!

Really good catfish but I believe they may have the best fall off the bone, lip smacking, dry rub ribs I ever put in my mouth. They reminded me of the simple yet mouth watering famous Memphis Rendezvous dry rub ribs of year's gone by.

  • Bill W.

I had the shrimp basket. It was excellent. The slaw and hush puppies can't be beat. The shrimp are breaded in house. My wife had the hamburger. Patted out by hand. Very good. Possibly the best burger in Hot Springs. Atmosphere makes you think you are on the lake.
